Can you refile for unemployment even after you found a new job?
Find answers to your legal question.

Can you refile for unemployment even after you found a new job?

My sister lives in Indiana. She filed for unemployment earlier this year after being let go from her job. She got a new job shortly after and has had the job for about 5 months, but the commute is over 70 miles each way. If she decides to leave this job because she can't afford the cost of gasoline and car maintenance, can she refile for unemployment due to the financial strain of the commute?

YES
she does not have to take or keep a job that is significantly different from her prior employment.
a large pay decrease, major change in hours worked or shifts as well as a significant commute are all reasons that allow for her to draw benefits.
she may not qualify for benefits but very well may.
it will depend on the job she had before and how this job relates to it.

she needs to contact the UI office and discuss her options before she makes a decision.

She can file, and plead her case. In my opinion she should stop complaining. There are many people out there who can't find a job or would kill to have that kind of commute.

Probably not - wasn't the job already 70 miles away when she took it in the first place? And commuting expenses haven't changed much in that time.

No, once new employment is found, unemployment benefits cease immediately. Financial strain of a commute does not qualify for unemployment benefits.

Don't think that's possible.

lol if you are the one fileing (re filing) for unemploment and you are now employed the government will find that out so of course you can't
