Can your employer take your scheduled day to work away from you?
|
When I was hired my employer guaranteed I would have 2 days a week
that I would work, last week while on my scheduled days off my assistant manager decided to take a personal day off and tried to call me to trade days with me since I wasn`t home to receive the call she called one of the other part time employee`s to cover for her and decided she was going to take one of my scheduled days away from me so that she would still get her 40 hrs is this legal for her to do

If the assistant manager has the authority to change the schedule, she can. There is nothing illegal about it.
I would speak to the manager about it though. It may be legal but sounds immoral. |

The employer does not have to guarantee a certain amount of days/hours to employees unless there is a union contract specifying minimums.
Your company policy may have been violated however. Check with the Manager. Perhaps the Assistant overstepped her bounds.
But, doing so, could worsen any relationship you have with the Assistant and possibly the Manager as well. Is it worth it? |

Legal, unless you have a written contract. |

Certainly no legal...but sounding a bit nasty and immature to me! You may want to keep this one to yourself for now, but speak to your direct manager about your desire to work 2 full shifts a week. Good luck! |

sometimes people like an assistant mnger can be nasty like that, but its really not a case worth persuying leagaly unless you want to lose ALL your hrs |

as long as they have the privilage of changing or updating the schedule, yes she had the right to do that. If she does not have scheduling privlages then I would consult your supervisor on what could be done to remedy the situation. |
