Co-Workers Asking What Type of Prescription Drugs On?

Is there any law against a co-worker, not a boss, asking what type of prescription drugs another employee is on? Then making a comment stating that it seems they have gone off their prescription medications, not knowing what they are even taking?
A co-worker friend of mine and I take the same meds for anxiety and depression. A 3rd co-worker came out of nowhere and asked her if she took prescription medications, what they were for, and stated she seemed like she was off her meds. My friend was taken aback and did not give her an answer.

No, there are no law against what other people talk or asking questions (freedom of speech).
Your friend did the right thing, not to answer. Because what she taken (legal drug) is none of other people business. |

Not exactly proper etiquette, but gets the point across..
The standard question is;
" Are you feeling OK, dear? you don't seem yourself today...."
Meaning.. "you are acting strange..." |

No laws -- I would simply reply, "Thanks for noticing. How kind you are to be concerned." Then walk away.

No, a co-worker can't ask you what meds you're on and anyone with an ounce of tact or compassion wouldn't raise the subject let alone comment on it. I would consider it a serious breach of office etiquette that she made that comment.
She could have been baiting you and your friend to see if you would rise to it and divulge something, in which case she's a nosy, interfering cow, best avoided. |

This can be considered harrassment and she needs to file a harrassment complaint. It is no one business what medications an individual is taking unless it my interfere with the individuals ability to perform their job then their supervisor would need to be aware. But a co worker has no right and doesn't need an answer at all! |
