Hi,
I'm currently collecting unemployment, and the last week I should be collecting the benefits will be the week ending 04/18. My sister's wedding will be on 04/19 in Canada. My family want me to be there and offered to book the flight for me, but I'm not sure to go or not.
It takes 2 days for me to be allowed to claim the benefits, and i'm not sure if flying to Canada and claiming the benefits online on 04/20 will be legal or not. I don't want to get in trouble, but in the mean time I want to be with my twin sis in this very special occasion. any idea please.

You should be fine, I think. You're not working there or moving there. You'll just happen to be in another country when your money is deposited in your account. The unemployment office doesn't get to dictate where you spend your time. Even if Canada, you're still an American citizen.
Go to your sister's wedding. Your financial and job situation is always going to be flexible, but you won't ever get your sister's wedding day back. |

You can claim unemployment through the 800 number or online. It does not matter where or how you do it as long as you do it and answer the questions truthfully |

There are many, many locations with free internet service. Also, calling directly can also guarantee your claim. Take both the website and the phone number with you. |
