I was working at dillards and I had to quit because of a serious personal situation. I had to move and I have been looking for work. Its been 2 months! Could my previous job have some kind of effect on my record or something. Can it keep me from being rehirable?What should i do, I really need to start working.

It very well could be. If any future employers call them for a reference, and find out you quit w/out giving notice, then they'll be less hesitant to rehire you.
For future reference, it is always best to give 2 weeks notice, and if you're not capable of that, you should sit down with your manager, and explain to them the situation, and in most cases if they're understanding, they will allow you to waive your notice. |

No, not giving notice has nothign to do with your eligibility to be hired. You are under no obligation to give any notice at all when you quit - it's simply a professional courtesy. it's understandable to forego a courtesy in an emergency situation. |

no, i did it. and i get paid more than what i was getting paid before. it depends on where you go, but i had like 5 jobs before i finally settled on this one. |

Just tell them you did give notice and they told you to leave that day. In most cases, a former employer will only give your starting date and ending date without rating you. |

i doubt it especially because it was in another city. just explain on the application that u left because of an emergency medical problem |

perhaps... if your old work hates you and people call them to see if you're a good employee that wouldn't go well for you. It could potentially make you look like a job-hopper if you've done this several times. Stop giving these people as a references if they're saying bad things about you. Better that people only hear good things even if the people who're giving the good reference are irrelevant.
Also I've found working is like dating when you have a job everyone want to hire you. Just like when you have a girlfriend every girl seems to want to get with you... It's unfair really. |
