Court reporters: Do you love your job?

I am going back to school to become a court reporter next month. I have always been interested in this field and I hear the income can be good. I also know that this is a growing field.
What I want to know is: do you love your job? Do you find satisfaction in the day-to-day routines involved with court reporting? How much money do YOU make? What company do you work for? Did you go to a university or a technical college to obtain your degree? Have you thought about parlaying your court reporting degree into broadcast captioning? Do you have any advice for the new court reporting student?
I really thought I wasn't nervous about returning to school, but now that I think about it, I suppose I am. This is a huge financial investment for me on top of the other school loans I am trying to pay down. The equipment is expensive and the drive will not be pleasant. I guess I just want to hear from other court reporters that this journey will be worth the effort.

Hey i am a fully retired court reporter's cousin. I am also a court reporter and i really don't have any advice but to brace yourself for what is coming toward you asa Court reporter. Also just enjoy it its tough but fun . :) Take it from a person with experience do not quit because it just ruins all your hard work and you'll regret it.
All the money you are using will come back to you just brace yourself it is a fun well paying job. |

Don't do it. I dropped out of school because it was soooo time consuming! You would have to give up your life in order to practice typing. It takes up all your free time. It's just very stress full and not fun at all. I got a degree as a paralegal instead..and I'm very happy. |
