It's always best to put down everything you're dubious about, because it looks worse if they run your information and come back with something you didn't disclose.

If I were you I'd put it down. I don't know the whole story behind it, but getting caught with a BB gun isn't as worse as some other crimes out there. BUT, like I said I don't know the complete story.

Craig T: He means a BB gun.

Ryan: If the applications asks only about "conviction", and there was not a "conviction" or a guilty plea, then there is nothing that you need to list. If there was a "conviction" or a guilty plea, then you do need to list it. I am not sure what a "12 month discharge" is; is it a conviction?.

Craig T
Not everyone (myself included) knows what a "bb" is

What does ''B B'' stand for?

yeah, just put it down. it looks worse when you lie. it really doesn't sound too bad.

Well, it's against the law to give false info on a job application. You have a choice; you can disclose the information, and if given a chance, explain. Secondly you can keep it to yourself and go to work. With the latter, if they really dig and find out you did not disclose the info, they can terminate you. The main point; is this conviction on your record?

Tell them about any conviction you have.

Whatever you do...don't lie. Criminal background checks are pulled by about 80% of employers these days. Trust me on this one...I know first hand. If you put it down, be sure to tell them how long ago it was, and how you learned from it. This helps sometimes, but not always. Good Luck.
