Currently employed, lookin for new job. Boss found resume online & says if I don't take it down, I am fired...

I am unhappy with my current position and looking for another, he says if I don't take it down I am going to be terminated. I really don't like this job, what should I do? I am an at will employee, do I have the right to look or am I wrong?

The resume is on a third party website.

Also he wants me to sign a paper stating that if I attempt to find other employment in the future I will be fired as well.(i.e. search jobs or send out resume)
Additional Details
I have the papers, haven't & don't plan on signing them.

I would consider your current employment over....just a matter of time.....think you@issed off the boss........try to find another job and move on.

If you are truly "at will" they can fire you for looking for work, for poor work, or they don't like the shirt you are wearing. Keep a copy of whatever he wants you to sign. It's not illegal, just repugnant. If not asking you to do anything against the law, then can't see how it's illegal. However, if you sign and then keep looking for work, he can say you violated the agreement/contract and he may have a legal argument. If you don't sign, you may be fired now (instead of later). Sounds like you wont' be working there much longer since your boss knows you don't like the work you have. By keeping a copy you have something if you do decide to sue. No attorney your boss hires to defend him would want a jury (working stiffs mostly) to see such a document so it would be great to keep.
Bottom line, if you can afford it or are willing to risk it, why work for this type of person? Good luck with whatever you decide.

I agree with pcstilwe's answer. I would add, however, that if your boss does fire you for refusing to sign the document, you would probably be entitled to unemployment, since such a firing would not be for a cause that would bar you from unemployment. Good luck.

Get a copy of that paper (sign it if you need to in order to get your duplicate) then sue them. It's not legal. It also infringes on your right to free speech for a boss to tell you not to self-promote on the web or anywhere. As long as you don't reveal company secrets or etc then there is no justification for prohibiting you from using the web for personal (or future business/employment) purposes.

No he can't do that. What is he doing looking at resumes anyway? Is he planning on replacing you with someone else? At will is at will, he can fire you for no reason whatsoever. However, he can't fire you for what you are stating, that is your right under fair labor law. Kind of a contradiction, huh?
