You have 2 separate issues here.

Insurance: If this is a small company, then they probably have what's called a "small-group" policy. Many insurance companies require that if a company has a small-group policy, 100% of the employees must be covered. Your employer could lose his insurance or could see his premiums increase dramatically if you refuse the coverage. I have run into this situation more than once, and I've always been the benefits administrator at these small companies, and I've also been the employee who refused the coverage because I already was on my husband's policy. SOMETIMES the employer can work it out with the insurance company to make an exception for that one person.

Can the employer fire you for not accepting his insurance? If you live and work in at employment-at-will state, he can fire you whenever he wants, for any reason or no reason, just like you can quit at any time.

The real issue here though, is that they're accusing you of stealing and inappropriate behavior. THAT'S what will get you fired. And if they can prove either charge, you can also be denied unemployment benefits after you're fired. When they make accusations, ask them to put in writing exactly what you are accused of saying or doing, when you supposedly said or did it, and to whom you said it. You want a paper copy, not an email, and you want to take that paper home with you and keep it safe.

You also want to start taking notes of your interactions with clients, while you're talking with them so you don't forget. Then if they try to accuse you later, you have your own notes. Whatever you do, DO NOT use their computer to make your notes. If they don't trust you, they may already have a keystroke logger on your computer, so they can see everything you type, everything you read, everything you do. Keep your personal notes on paper, and take them home with you.

If you can't get along with the wife, and if you're going to be accused of stealing, why do you want to continue working there? Accepting or refusing their insurance is the least of your worries!

Yes you can Delcine these benefits. You don't have to take them, it's there it you need it. Now if you decide later that you do want them, you might have to wait for open enrollment time( usually is once a year)
