Daughter Lost Paycheck- secretary sez " too bad"?

My 16 year old had her first summer job - paying bi-monthly.
She lost an August paycheck.
On 9/08 She acknowleged to the secretary that she was careless and asked to have another issued.
The secretary more or less said "too bad, but we can't give you a replacement" No reason.
I feel bad for her, but want her to fight her own battles.
HOWEVER, I'm a bit angry at the employer.
Said daughter was always willing to work all and any shifts.
She's a meek and humble girl. Not given to any controversy
Any suggestions or law in PA in favor of a minor vs. small business owner??

What a bit**!
I would contact the owner of this company directly as the minor child's parent. I would hope that after you tell him how ignorant his secretary acted, they will issue a replacement check immediately.

2nd....I would contact the dept of labor and file a complaint.

3rd...I would contact your local newspaper or tv station. They love human interest stories like this.

It amazes me how mean and stupid people can be sometimes.

Good luck to you and your daughter. It would be nice to know how this all works out.

Contact the State Department of Workforce Development and ask for some advise and or assistance. The pain in the a** secretary must feel all powerful to mess with a kid.

Has she spoken to her supervisor? the boss? the owner of the company?

It really shouldn't be a big deal to write another check for the company.
