I was injured after a machine at my work was turned on by another employee with my hand in it. this happened on the 13 I have been seeking medical treatment. today on the 20th my employer wrote me up (for the accident) and took away my certification and $1.50 an hour that goes with it. my question is (isn't it illegal to discriminate against an injured worker.) and also is that considered retaliation from the employer?

You are correct in that it is normally illegal to retaliate against an injury in the workforce.
However, were you doing something against company policy? Was it a safety certification you lost? Was the pay directly a result of the loss of the certification?
If so, they may be in their legal rights. Honestly, more information is needed to provide you with a correct answer. |

they are not discriminating against you they are reprimanding you for a safety violation. The company is following OSHA regulations which is perfectly legal to do.
Just because you got injured doesn't mean they need to look the other way and not reprimand you for the violation. |

it is perfectly legal, there is no law that covers this you are only protected if you are a union member and only then if it part of the contract, most people including HR people are not aware of this, if they checked with their Insurance carrier they would discover the truth.

I was demoted four (4) days after I got injured at work. I got burned.
