Direct deposit question. very important.?

My work put in my paycheck on saturday morning and I spent most of it and have a lot of auto payments coming out today and tomorrow. well my wonderful work reversed my paycheck and shorted it $550. that leaves me in a HUGE bind. ( insert every swear word possible here) Are they are allowed to reverse my check out and put in back in $550 less? If they messed up wouldnt they fix it on the next check instead of taking out their mess up 2 days later?! I talked to other people at my company with direct deposit and this all happened to them too.. What gives?

every quarter we get a bonus - no one how much the bonus is until it hits our account. that is why almost 2,500 people got totally screwed over and spent it. Including the $550 the pay is a legitimate amount that our bonus is. This is why no one saw it coming and we are all negative in our accounts.

Direct depsit is a 2 way street. They can take money out just like they put it in. You authorized this when you gave them the voided check to set it up.

Why didn't you realize that the paycheck was $550 too much in the first place? That's huge about to be off by. But apparently you went and spent it anyway. It would be different if it was off by $10, that much you might not notice. The fact that you spent money that clearly you should have known didn't belong to you is your fault not the company's.

Cube above me is correct. Many people don't know that when you sign for direct deposit, you also sign so that they may also withdraw from that account.
You would have to ask your company what happened. No one here can possibly know why they did what they did. Whether or not they can is moot because they did it
