What to ask for in compensation- discrimination complaint filed.?
one of the last sections asks what i want to be done. It gives a couple examples like: reinstitution of my job position- yeah right like i want to go back there!!
and the other: retraining of the managers- ha!!maybe firing of the managers
I want them to be sanctioned, no crazy amount, just reasonable but how to calculate it & how to word it?
it is involving a large bussiness where i was made to do excessive janitorial work (being the only female among 7 males) the worst part is, my job title was hostess/greeter.

you need to talk with an attorney as well as have an attorney back you in court. Discrimination is like a libel case, both are very hard to prove in court. You need witnesses and if all the others were males then you're sunk because they will not witness for you. Somehow you have to prove that your job title was hostess/greeter, and then you have to prove that you were doing janitorial work in the first place and if they were short handed, if you just considered it janitorial work or it really was janitorial work, and then you have to prove somehow that it was "excessive" even for a janitor. I'd be curious as to who you are filling out that paperwork for, if it's not for an attorney then it's best you not fill that out. |

Here is the problem with answering your question. You do not give enough details of what exactly happened with the exception of "excessive janitorial work." Are you still working there? Were you fired or did you quit and when.... Secondly, who are you submitting this to? The EEOC? Division of Human Rights? Barely enough information to give you advice. |

Whatever you ask for you're going to have to justify. For example, if you ask for $10 million, how will you justify that request? I think the lower the amount the more likely you'll get it. If you've had medical bills, add that amount. If you're had any out of pocket costs, add that too. Otherwise, I wouldn't know how to justify an amount. If you have a lawyer, ask him/her. |
