Over the summer I've been involved with a relationship with my female boss. It ended recently and I suggested she tell her husband and she did. Now today she called me in to tell me that we can no longer work together and since she needs the benefits for her kids, I'm the one that's going to have to leave and find a new job. She told me I could stay the week but I refused and left. I'm not sure what to do. Do I have a case? I have not gone to HR yet.

I would make an appointment with HR and go back. I understand what she is saying but maybe she should have thatof that before.Talk with them first-if they are doing their job that could be your solving factor |

Not to say that you do not have a case, but you should have stayed and let her fire you, that definitely would be grounds for a case. Like all of the other posters replied... go to HR and explain your side of the situation and see what they say.. however, I would suggest keeping strict notes on every communication between you and HR maybe even recording the conversations from here on out...{trust me...I know from experience} just be sure to let them know that the conversation is being recorded{I dont know what state you're in, but in California you have to inform the other party that they are being recorded} so you will have proof of everything being said and actions taken... Good luck... it can be a long and frustrating process. |

First of all...
This is a sticky situation to be in....this is always the risk of getting involved with a higher authority in your job...
You should have stayed and went to the HR...generally-if a boss and a worker are in a relationship--the boss will end up getting fired first.
But since you went ahead and quit...I dont know if you'd have a case but she hadn't fired you yet... I would definitely bring it up witht he HR and see what happens. |
