Do I have to sign a new contract if my boss tells me to,eventhough I have been working here for2years already?

I have recently been told that I will have to sign a new contract at my company, over 2 years after I started.
I am not very happy about this as I believe they are going to change the amount of notice I have to give (currently 1 month), and probably change a few other things tomake working here even more depressing.
Do I legally have to sign this contract, or can I just say I am not going to sign it, without losing my job?

Your wisdom would be very much appreciated.

From your question it appears that your present job is a contractual job for 2 years.If you do not sign the new contract, the employer will not keep you in job, even if this is illegal. Better approach the union before you take a decision !!

The answer is no. However, if you fail to sign the new contract it is likely that you will be fired. As long as you don't care if you are fired for this reason, then politely refuse to sign the new contract or, at least, tell your employer you can't sign it until you review its terms with your attorney. (And honestly, you really should discuss your situation with a good employment lawyer!)

if you have beeen working under a contract for the last two years then you do. if not then he has to sack you first or make you redundant and pay you a extra two month wages.

you have no legal right to sign the contract - but you do need to read the old one very carfully if it states in there that they can change anything whenever they like then im afraid you are stuck, if not they may still try to fire you but you can then take it to a tribunal.

I have been working day shift for 6 years, and a new rota went up with me doing 5pm till 3am?? no one consulted me of the change and i can not work those hours. My original contract stated flexible hours, but i was told i would only do day shifts, and thats all ive done for 6 years but now they want to change working hours????? but im the only one who is being asked to do this cos other employees do nights. My arguement is ,they may do nights but they do the same shifts always, ie, fri ,sat 6pm till 2pm every week,etc... So i think if they ask me to be flexible, we all should be in consoltation. Am i right in thinking this????????
