Obviously I'm not talking about physical abuse, but what about emotional abuse? I've had bad experiences with bosses yelling and screaming and throwing things over such stupid nonsense and then turning around and telling me I'm doing a great job. It's like they want to be abusive no matter how hard I work, and it seems to be a common occurance in any job I've held. Is this really standard practice? Can legal action be taken over emotional distress in the workplace?
Yeah, I know, I could always just get another job. But I went through a number of jobs last year over bad bosses. I want to fight back, not run away.

Unfortunately , the compensation for mental agony is not compensated , nor can be litigated under general law. A powerful trade union alone can check this kind of high handed stupidity on the part of employers !! |

You have the right to work in an environment free from fear, bullying, harassment and persecution. Keep a log of events that have occurred against you. Who, when, what, where. Join your work place's union. When you have enough evidence report it to the most senior manager in your department and demand changes to current working practices.
Or go off sick with stress and sue them. |
