Do i have any rights to complain?

i've worked at a shoe shop for a bit over two months now and today i called in sick for the first time; coz i'm like dying of a cold and i didn't think it would be that appropriate to go into work and cough and sneeze all over the customers, especially as i work on commission.
so i phoned up my branch manager as soon as i realised i wouldn't go in about half 8 this morning, i wasn't due to go in till 11 and in my opinion that's a decent amount of notice. and told her i was too ill, i was all coughy and dribbly etc and she immediately told me i was lying and that i'd probably went out and got drunk last night and was just hungover and i had to insist i was genuinely ill. and she told me that because i'd let her down she'd have to call the area manager and let him know i hadn't come in.
a couple of hours later branch manager called me again saying the least i could do was come into work tomorrow when i'm not due to work, because the girl who covered me today has worked a whole week and wants a day off, i said i couldn't because i was sick! but i'd be in on wednesday when i was due to work and she just hung up on me,
do i have any rights to make a complaint about her conduct? she was nothing but rude and unprofessional and i know for a fact she's been off sick at least 3 times, this was the first time i'd ever called in sick and i put up with alot from where i work, i always work any extra shifts they need, i've let the fact they've been paying less than minimum wage go because they say it'll be sorted even though i'm well within my rights to take them to court.

yeah i'm not bothered about her sacking me because i know i'm in the right but i am worried about her causing trouble, so i've put up with it, because i know rather than sacking me they'll give me no shirfts or crap jobs to do, just generally force me to leave.
if i leave of my own accord then i'll be less likely to be able to claim jobseekers allowence and i wouldn't be able to make an unfair dismissal claim

Your manager has acted badly. She was probably stressed at being short staffed. Nevertheless, she cant make you work when you are ill. You are entitled to self certify yourself as sick for the first 3 days of illness. If you are still ill after 3 days get a doctors note. You don't have to work extra days and if your manager continues to treat you badly then you have a case for bullying. A letter to your companies HR dept will see your manager disciplined by her superiors, but I would use this as a last resort. See if she has calmed down by wednesday. If she hasn't just explain to her that you don't have to take that sort of nonsense and that you are protected under employment law.

I cannot believe you even need to ask! Either you are extremely gracious, patient and kind-or you are a wet blanket!

Not trying to be horrible BTW-just trying to knock some steam into your pipe.

The min wage thing is just illegal! Very!

The conduct of your manager is unacceptable too. Be careful about complaining about them though-she ciuld make your life even more difficult.

I say hit 'em all in the nuts and take action regarding the min wage!!!

Sounds to me that you are in the hands of a company near collapse and it would do you a favour if you took them to court over this minimum wage thing, however be certain that your facts are correct as there ARE SEVERAL TIERS of minimum wages out there depending on age.
Good companies have proper means of cover in case of illness and it is common knowledge for people to get sick at this time of year, sod em! take off whatever time you need to recover and stand your ground use the medical profession for backup if you are genuinely ill,.that way they are on sticky ground if they try and bully you which by the way is also against the law... you always have a right to complain but I would surely have complained to her about her unprofessional behavior.
