I live normaly in UK (UK resident), but the whole last tax year (since march 2008) I live and work in Germany where I have to pay income tax as i spend more then 6 months here . Do i need to pay any income tax in UK ? am I UK resident ? if not who am I since I still have my UK address and post goes there, etc ?

Being a UK resident does not mean that you have to pay tax here.
You're currently living and working in Germany and you're paying tax there. Therefore there should be nothing further to pay to the UK tax man. You would start to pay tax in the UK again when you return to live and work here.
BUT even though you probably do not have to pay NI contributions, you may choose to do so anyway. If you plan to retire in the UK, when you get to retirement age, you may find that you have not made enough NI contributions to qualify for a UK pension. (You may still get a pension, but will need to pay something extra then, I think.) So, I would definitely contact DWP and ask them how you go about paying contributions assuming that you plan to return to the UK one day. |
