i will have a bachelors degree in a year, but i have a criminal mischief charge on my record? is there any hope, even though employers say it doesnt neccesarily disqualify you?

Any time you apply for a job you must be perfectly honest about this criminal mischief charge. Most employers are reasonable people and understand that no person they have apply is going to be perfect. Be open, explain what happened, and show the maturity to give this person a secure feeling that they do not have to worry about this type behavior interfering with your job performance. Remembering my first interview the gentleman asked, "You've never been in jail?" "When I was your age I had been arrested three or four times." Then he laughed. I doubt that he was ever arrested but he wanted me to relax and tell the total truth. Any prospective employer is looking for the person that can best help their company. Just don't repeat the past and you will be fine. |

you should be ok as long as your honest about it, and dont let them find out on there own. Tell them about it before they do a background check. |

With as many applicants as there are, ANY blemish on your record can hurt you. There are many people who have no record of any sort, so you are operating with a handicap.
However, if you are honest about it, and convince them this was just something done out of immaturity and you'd never do it again, then, I think you've overcome this problem. Anyone can make a mistake, but what you learned from it can count a lot.

a misdeamor shouldn't be a big problem. most companies don't even ask about misdemeanors. they ask if you have any felonies. |
