Does TARGET stores DISCRIMINATE against ENGLISH-speaking american customers? read more?

went to a Target Store (Gardena California) last night. I asked a salesclerk for assistance. She gestured with her hand for me to follow her. She brought me to an ENGLISH-speaking co-worker! What the??!! I asked the manager what their policy was on hiring SPANISH-speaking ONLY employees. She said, "As long as they can do their job duties, we cannot discriminate against spanish-speakers!" What happened to spanish AND english. Imagine if ALL stores adopted this policy ~ does that mean that english-speaking american customers would get no customer service? This is ridiculous!!

I agree with you....if someone wants to live and work in this country, then learn to speak english. I know I'll get lots of thumbs down...i don't care. I should be able to walk into a store in my own country and have an employee be able to understand me. simple as that!

not only are they NOT discriminating they are making an effort to ensure quality service to all their customers regardless of the language they speak.

Common Sense

Sometimes it's hard to find people who will work for the pittance places like Target pays, but your claims of discrimination are just over-entitled nonsense.
The employee took you to an English speaker, so what's the problem? Would you rather these people stay home and mooch off welfare? You can't have it both ways.
And as for bi-lingual...are YOU? I thought not.

Saying they don't discriminate against Spanish speakers is quite a different thing from your imaginary scenario in which they do discriminate against English speakers. In actual fact, they choose not to discriminate against ANYONE, which is how it should be.

Every store hires the best employees for their particular customer base. If this particular store has mostly Spanish-speaking customers, it would be a very bad business decision for them NOT to hire Spanish-speaking employees.
