It is completely legal, but as long as you are doing what you are suppose to be doing, then it should not bother you. Cameras only bother those that are up to no good.

If where you sit is adjacent to an area which is traveled frequently (and not in a corner by itself), it is very legal. First, it will monitor anyone traveling in that area, and secondly, if any personal belongings of yours were to go missing, they would have footage they can review to see who was there. Of course, it is advisable that you are not the one who is caught on camera doing anything questionable. It works both ways.

Most larger companies have security cameras (several on each floor) for insurance reasons as well. It cuts down the cost of insurance.

Yes, it's legal. Happens at lots of work locations. Have you ever been in a fast food restaurant? There are cameras covering all facets of the operation.

there is no privacy in the workplace, the courts have ruled on this many times, if you are doing nothing wrong then there is nothing to worry about

He can do it as long as you know that the camera is there. It would only be illegal if he videotaped you without your knowledge.

well is he just recording you, or the area that you are working in? is he doing this for security reasons? i would ask him this. also, has he recently started taping, or has he always? and if he just began, what are his reasons? and if you ask him to point the camera in another direction, what will his response be?

If he has a camera on you and your surroundings to make sure you and your co-workers are working and not stealing or misbehaving, then its legal. But, if its on just you and he watches certain body parts of you and only you then you might have a pervert on your hands and should do or say something about it. Its his place of business and as long as its not in an inappropriate way then its legal.

I doubt there's any problem with this other than in employee bathrooms. It's about where a person would have a "Legitimate expectation of privacy". Definitely no problem at your desk, definite problem in the bathroom, the kitchen gets a "maybe".

They can record any employee anywhere except where reasonable privacy is expected, such as a restroom.

They do not need your consent. All they have to do is tell you that you are being recorded.
