Does anyone have any advice about custom and practice under employment law.?

V.T.V.RAM
The law stipulates that employers provide their staff with a full written statement of employment information.
Sometimes, a particular condition may be implied into an employment contract because it is the normal practice within the company, or even within a particular industry. However, this can only happen if the term is:
1. Reasonable
2.Certain
In layman’s terms this means that it must be fair, must not vary and must be well known and recognised in the company and industry. This may not be relevant to you, but it is worth thinking about any peculiarities of your industry or business that may, by default, be contractually binding. An example might be that every year you give your staff a bonus of £50 each at Christmas. By default, you might have created a custom that is legally binding in the future.

I think this government site covers everything regarding employment law...

Perhaps you are a HR student and you may have better resources yourself, but if this helps...
For example It is customary for employees to receive an employment contract under British/Irish and EU law. In practise this is not complied with in 20 % of cases
Does it help? Hope it does.
