My friend is looking for a job again. He lied on the last application about having a felony and was interviewed and hired almost instantly. He was laid off and now in the situation again about whether or not to lie. Lying puts him in that position of being fired at any given moment if they find out. Being honest clearly keeps him from getting an interview. We have been at this for two months, and he has been called back for an interview only twice and those were jobs that didn't have him fill out a full application before the interview.
Does anyone know of any other businesses that either don't ask, or don't ask until after a first interview. His felony was more than 7 years ago, so I know sometimes it asks about the last 7 years on an app. and that would work too.

Smaller businesses are least likely to run a background check, so, yeah, I'd not mention it to them.
What he needs is time to pass and a good solid job history following the fact. If he has to lie to get that, that's just survival. |

A small buisness would probably not run a background check unless you give them reason to suspect you. If they do that anyway, they probably wouldn't hire you.
But the general application you can get from the .gov websites all ask for it, so be prepared to tell the truth. |

Lying will only compound his difficult situation. It looks like he hasn't changed at all.
