Typically, or at least in the state I live in they are considered misdemeanors. I am curious, why things that represent arbitrary numbers, like credit scores, are also used for employment? A credit score cannot tell you if a person is a good person or not. If a person has been beaten down by economic factors, such as the loss of good employment, or household’s total loss of employment? Why do employers/ hiring managers hold things against people who have had rough times and not given them a chance to prove themselves or their worth?

your credit score shows more than just rough times .It shows stability and your history. face it would you hire someone who has a long history of NEVER paying thier bills, doesnt pay child support ,writes bad checks,never pays rent is being sued by everone, ect??? come on use your head!!! |

Most employers run credit checks on their candidates if the person is applying for a financial position, or will be involved in the company's finances. Organizations don't want to hire candidates to handle the company's finances if they have a bad history of mishandling their own finances.
Aside from this, other companies will run credit checks as a basis of determining how responsible the candidate is, though I am not sure how lawful this is.
DUI's *are* criminal offenses, in most states it is a misdemeanor - which is a crime. |

A DUI is a criminal charge because if you are DUI you can easily kill somebody or hurt yourself or both, cars are considerer deadly weapons. Your credit report will show a lot of important information about yourself, is part of a background check most companies do before they hire you. If you are not able to take care of yourself can you take care of the job they want to offer you?
