Does having a criminal conviction that is not spent bar you from registering to train as an accountant?

I have a criminal conviction from 5 years ago (related to drugs, not finance). I have since been to university and completed a business and economics degree. I have never committed a further offence and just want a chance to move on.
Additional Details

Ask ACCA they will help.

Not at all, as it would be discriminatory.

every one does deserve a chance, some areas of employment may have a legal clause preventing you from working with certain details or jobs due to criminal offences, but these should be mentioned during the application process including reasons why.
