Having a military background does help you in becoming a law enforcement officer. You will still have to take the test to get into the academy, but when you take the test they give you 10 extra points for being in the military so that boosts you up the list for first to be called into the academy.

Was there any relationship between what you did in the military and law enforcement?
Military service would be a plus. You know about weapons, you can take orders, you are aware and accept the chain of command.
