Does payday differ if you have Direct Deposit or receive a paper paycheck?

Does payday differ if you have Direct Deposit or receive a paper paycheck?

If a company's Payday every 2 weeks on Friday, is the company required to make sure every employee receives pay that day?

Most of the employees at my company have direct deposit. I do not want direct deposit. The other employees are paid at midnight Saturday morning by direct deposit, but my check is mailed to me and I don't receive it until Thursday or Friday the following week.

Shouldn't the company overnight my check to make sure I at least get paid by Monday? Is there laws regarding this?
Additional Details
I do not have a bank account because I am in the middle of a divorce and do not want money garnished for my soon to be ex's debts.

I can understand that the company doesn't not pay simply because I want to be paid. I can also understand that employees that help the company by choosing DD has the bonus of getting paid a day earlier. But isn't a company required to make sure all employees are paid on the day they say is PAYDAY? I would not complain if I received a check a day or 2 late, seeing as it is immpossible for it to "POOF" and be here. However I donot receive a check for almost 7 days after "PAYDAY"

It shouldn't take that long to get to me by mail anyway...

if you are getting it Thursday or Friday and Paydays are Friday, then they are meeting their obligation.

If you want it earlier - then get a bank account and get direct deposit

No, they only have to use U.S. Mail. They want you to use direct deposit because it saves them money and time, and the govt supports direct deposit as well.

No, it is an option for you so that if you want your check on Friday you can have it on Friday with direct deposit, if you don't want it then that's your decision the company is not responsible for that, they have their policies and that's it, they are not required to give you your check when you want it.

no they are the same but DD is faster - i do it

yes, no and maybe.

US Government official payday = 15th of the month and last day of the month.

If you have direct deposit... the money is usually in your account about 2 days early. (often the Friday before if "payday" is on a Monday...)

But if you get a paper check... they MAIL it on the 15th or the 30th.... and you get it a few days AFTER payday... and if the mail is delayed... TOUGH.

Thats reality. Deal with it.

They're not going to spend the extra money to overnite your paycheck!! There are no laws on this...get direct deposit or live with it. I can't believe you think you're entitled to that.

Sometimes you get paid earlier with direct deposit. I'm curious though, why doesn't the company hand the check to you on payday? I would complain about it not making it to you on time.

go for the dd---there is no law being broke, your check is issued on payday, just your company being cheap!
