Anyone familiar with this? I just got a job with a credit card processing company and I read on the application that employees are subject to a pre-employment drug test. I have been working there for two weeks and it has never even come up (not even in any of the interviews). I am in a three month probation period, but I don't know if they are ever going to test. Anyone have any ideas what's up?
Additional Details
I write code and test scripts to test problems with servers. Nowhere on the application or anywhere in any of the interviews did it say I was subject to random testing. All I remember from the application was "Zero tolerance" and "pre-employment drug testing".

Well obviously the norm is to do the test prior to employment, but believe it or not I have heard of cases since HR or whoever handles it is so busy they do not send the employee for the drug testing till weeks or months later to finish the application process (about 10 years ago I was sent for the required drug test almost 6 months into my employ.) Obviously you do not sound as if you are taking any illegal substances so don't worry about it. Normally when this is done it's done as a group rather than getting the results of one employee here and there randomly. |

you may also be subject to random testing as well as testing if you are ever involved in a work incident that results in an injury for you or someone else. it is all a matter of policy and the wording of it.
don't do drugs and this will never be an issue. |
