i do acting and singing and ive had a bad throat infection/viral/cold infection (fever, cold, sore cough, sore throat) for over a week and a half ive worked through it even though i wasnt well and hurt my throat cos of this cos i didnt want to pull out of show i told them this.
its my last show tomorrow and i told my regional manager today (in plenty of notice) that i was unable to perform im sure she could hear it in my voice, she didnt sound happy and said ill speak to you tomorrow.
she then texted saying i cant get anyone to cover you you'll HAVE to do it tomorrow, i cant do it! i had to get an emergency appoinment with doctor 2nite, who ordered me to rest my voice, and advised against doing show, said i need to rest. it could turn to laryingitis.
i then texted the regional manager this news at 7ish tonight she texted me saying she only got it just now at 11pm and she will speak to me tomorrow, i feel like she is trying to force me to perform, i cant speak as its soooo sore, even now its agony! i cant sing and talk in an hour long show, why are they giving me hassle? they cant force me surely?
in my contract it says if an artist in unable to perform due to illness then a replacement will be found and that i will miss out on that days pay.
can anyone help please i feel like they dont believe im ill and i know for a fact she can get someone else to cover as there are many teams all over country who should be available to work. one of my team members phoned in sick one other nite with a ..."headache" and that was apparently fine!!

Just don't go in. You can't risk your health over it. If you don't show, they'll find someone.
Just to clarify, tell them you won't be in and don't go in. |
