Employer won't pay me last paycheck?

my employer told me he refused to pay me for the last two weeks of work i performed. the problem is i work in tennessee and the office is in florida--we have no direct communication, i telecommunicate. i submit my hours at the end of every week and this is how he tracks my work. my question is, how do i get my last paycheck that i'm entitled to? even though i am not physically in the office, would this still be vital proof if i ever needed to take legal actions to get my last check?

you will definately need to take legal actions
i think you need to keep every email between the two of you; send a certified letter also
this is to show proof that you are trying to be in communication with your former employer....but i'm sure your legal advisor will be helpful in this matter..... |

Check with the Tennessee Department of Labor, wage and hour division, about how to get help in collecting past due wages. You can likely file a claim for unpaid wages with them. |

This is the division for non-payment of wages. Please let me advise you and I hope this isn't your particular situation. There are a number of organizations who establish themselves in the United States, but are headquartered out of the states. In these cases the Department of Labor cannot assist you. |

you do need to take him to small claims court. You are entitled to that paycheck. |

Go to Dept of Labor...filing small claims would not work for you--you would need to file & appear in Florida. Print out all copies of all correspondence now (particularly your hours & their refusal). If that doesn't work hire a lawyer to write to them--that frequently does it amazingly enough, sad but true |

Could you check with the BBB. Or even the unemployment office. If you have a contract look over it to see if there is something in there about the last paycheck. Is your employer telling you why he is not giving you your last check? They would at least have to give a reason. |
