Employment probation completed, but not officially?

Started new job nearly 30 weeks ago & in contract it says the "first 26 weeks will be probation....... may be dismissed during or at the end of this period....." (ex-certs from contract)
I've asked several times about the end assessment but still nothing.
When i finally have it if the worst came to the worst & they decided to extend my probation (happened to some one else recently but shortly befor there 26 weeks) etc.
Could they ?

Its quite common these days. I am going through exactly the same as you at the moment and its irritating.
I am going to call their bluff though and use it to my advantage. They are presuming that i am happy in my role and i am far from it as it is not the job i applied for so i am looking for another and when i get one i'm off.
Probationary periods should be a two way thing, they should be an opportunity for you to discuss the role from both the employee and employer side. A good employer should give you that opportunity and put you at ease without the additional worry. |

You have done 30 weeks and are still employed ?
In that case, they no longer have the right to dismiss you under the 26 week clause ...
This happens at Companies all the time .... they put in clauses to give them time to get rid of unsuitable people but since this is invoked extremely rarely they have no 'normal' follow up process in place ...
So yes, it's annoying that they didn't confirm you have 'passed' == however it's good to feel that you are SO obviously the right person for the job that non-one even needed to question you .. |
