Former job - harrassment issue?

I had a job a few years ago which was absolutely horrible. They wrote me letters explaining their "dissatisfaction" with my performance when I had only been there for a couple of weeks. I lasted 2 months, altogether, before they told me to scram. I have all the documentation I did for them proving I went above and beyond what they wanted. I have all their letters sent to me. I tell you the whole experience took a toll on me psychologically as much as emotionally. I thought I had put it all behind me, but then the letters resurfaced while I was cleaning out a drawer and reading them reminded me of how cruel they were. Do I have any legal recourse whatsoever?

Uh, no. Not even close.

If that is the worst thing you have had an employer do to you, consider yourself lucky.

Lots of people get fired from jobs, and they don't get to sue their employer for emotional distress years later.

Unfortunately, there is no law which can punish sadistic minded employer who has inflicted on you a psychological and emotional torture !

In most cases there's a 300 day limit on filing a workplace grievance for harassment. I'd check with your local EEOC office (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission).

Not likely anything you can do legallly.

And you say "few years ago" -- you really need to let this go if it's been years. Toss the letters. Better yet, hold a burning ceremony and burn all reminders.

Holding on to this pain only lets them win. Move on.

There are alot of unmentioned factors here....
First off what state did you live in when this happened?

Where you written up for the 'problems in your performance'? Did you need to seek counseling at a reasonable amount of time after your dismissal?
Are you working now? If so are you in the same field?
If not is it a result of this dismmisal?

I would think that too much time has passed for you to do anything that would directly benefit you

HOWEVER
I would go to www.ripoffreport.com and post a complaint there to warn others of what a terrible company this is to work for.

The negative posting will be cathartic (sp) and it will allow you to assist others in avoid the hell that you went thru!

I would think that you have left it too long. You will only cause yourself too much anxiety and emotion if you continue. Forget it.
