First off I dont need anyone telling me that I should have stayed out of trouble because I know that and plus this happened 10 years ago.
Anyhow I am a stay at home mom of 3 kids and money is tight. Most attorneys want to charge $500 to $750 if not more to get my felony expunged and what I want to know is... can I do the paper work myself and get my felony expunged ? Thank you all for answers

If it happened 10 years ago, it should not be too difficult, but I WOULD recommend an attorney. If you can't afford it now, wait until you can. My sister was told by a lawyer that she should be able to expunge a misdemeanor if she plead guilty, but after she did, it turns out the lawyer was wrong and it's still on her record, and she paid him several hundred dollars for the wrong advice. A good attorney is WELL worth the money. I would weigh the costs and benefits and see what is most important to you. |

If you live in the US then you you can do the paperwork yourself, however you will have to fill out some serious paperwork, and it has to be 100 percent correct. Look in you local phone book! Most areas have non-profit legal services available. If you have a college in your area, BINGO, The kids need to complete a set number of hours doing such work just for the course requirement. Yes, you can.
Write a petition to the court that convicted you asking for the expungement. Here's a sample: http://www.norfolk.gov/Circuit_Court/Forms/expunge-order.pdf
Go to the court clerk and file an appearance.
Appear in court on the scheduled date, and argue your case for expungement.
Take LOTS of character witnesses.
