Getting any job here in middle Tennessee has posed a major problem for me with a misdemeanor. Any direction ? ?

I have a theft misdemeanor after the fact I've been clean and sober for 5 years and I still cannot find work. It's making it close to impossible and I'm applying for 'anything available' under manufacturing / light industrial.
This is very very hopeless and frustrating. I am a single mother who has pulled her life back together after divorce and I'm at my wits end with this issue. I have to find work !!

your past probably has absolutely nothing to do with it.
the fact is manufacturing/industrial jobs just are not available anywhere.
businesses are laying-off employees all over the country.

if you need a job you need to broaden your horizons and apply everywhere and anywhere that will accept an application. you may not find an ideal job but currently any job is better then no job. focus on your interview skills, job-skills, work-ethic and be sure you are as open as possible to work by not limiting your availability or the types of jobs you will accept.
being a single parent can limit your prospects because of child-care issues and how you deal with the availability you offer will determine what prospects you may find.

the economy will improve but that may be a year or more off into the future.
Middle Tennessee will see some new manufacturing jobs that are related to the new Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga but that is a couple of years away. for now focus on finding any job you can and if available get training or if it is possible look into vocational school.
for example nursing, you can become an LPN in one year through the vocational schools. hard to do and work and care for children but if it is possible it would provide for you and your family a secure future.
