Since trial is close and you have no more money, there is nothing you can do right now so you'll have to stick it out. It is really unlikely that another attorney will bring you on as a client at this time.
(It is possible to hire a new attorney at this time if you have a lot of assets. Look at your property's equity for one...)
First, you should meet with your attorney and tell her that you are really nervous about the trial. Tell her what you feel and ask if there is anything else that needs to be done. Write a list of things that have been bothering you.
This should clarify or at least calm your nerves. But if it doesn't:
After trial you should consider contacting your state's Bar Association. Consider filing for a malpractice lawsuit. I have to warn you, filing for malpractice is a huge deal. But if her other clients have filed one, than she could be suspended. On the other hand, it could be a waste of money for you because the malpractice insurance takes these allegation seriously. It only really works when there are a lot of complaints. You may want to have copies of all your invoices from your attorney (do they look correct? Have you been charged according to your client-attorney contract? What about the money deposited? Does it look similar to your bank account?). Make notes of any past deadlines that your attorney missed. This will almost ALWAYS secure a malpractice suit.
If anything, it is almost always a bad idea to go to trial pro se (without an attorney). If you think you're sharp enough to go without one, that is completely fine, but it's important to know your rights. |

This is a joke, yes?
I presume you mean 50,000 pieces of broken glass! I surely hope so anyway! I can't imagine that much money being paid to a single lawyer! And then for a person having that kind of cash to be asking about a letter of repudiation here on Y!A?
Anyway... I don't know of any "good letters" to say bad things. |

Confused as to what a "prenuptial" which is an agreement made between two people about to get married has to do with your case. If this is a divorce case, there are hearings and motions, and appearances in front of the judge, and settlement negotiations, and lots of things prior to a trial. People go for years in and out of court on a divorce before a trial date is ever set.
I also question your assumption that your attorney is not conducting depositions or issuing subpoenas. How do you know this? If you are not close to a trial but in fact having pre-trial hearings and other pre-trial business then the depositions and subpoenas are a ways off.
You need to have a meeting with your attorney and not assume anything until she speaks with you. It is understandable that you are nervous, but wait until you have a face to face meeting with her. If she really has not done anything file a complaint with the department or association in your state that issues law licenses and sue her for malpractice. |
