My friend refered me a job at the law firm she was working at straight after high school. Im going in for legal assistant because I want to see if Im interested in paralegal. Im inexperienced. I emailed the lawyer but I forgot to let him know I am inexperienced! But anyways he emailed me back and asked me to go in for an interview. I know I should let him know Im inexperienced
fyi: my friend is also inexperienced.
What do I expect during the interview? How should I dress

You should dress in a suit - skirt suit if you are female; pants suit if you are male.
Expect to be asked about your experience - be honest and say you have none but can learn quickly, are a team player, etc. (as long as you are those). |

Hi. I have been on many job interviews.
Look professional. Wear a skirt and blouse or a dress (professional looking)....nothing low cut (blouse/dress)
or very short (skirt/dress). Don't overdo it on the makeup either OR perfume!
He/she/they will probably ask you:
Why do you want to work here?
What kind of experience do you bring?
What are your long-term career goals?
How long do you expect to work for us?
Tell me about yourself?
Be honest. Say you don't have experience ....but turn it into a positive (like the politicians do!) by saying .....but I am a quick learner, enjoy challenge, etc.
Tell us about yourself. Again, you don't need to give your life story. Just a few short sentences...again...positive. (I enjoy working in an office setting, I have been in school for XX years and I have maintained a xxx grade point average; I am looking for a challenge and would love to learn more about being a legal assistant.)
End by thanking him/her/them for their time. |

Depending on the type of law firm, many are formal, and men wear suits and ties.
Wear a suit and tie to your interview. Make sure your shoes are polished, your hair is cut and combed.
When the attorney reads your résumé, he will know you don't have experience.
Females wear suits in law firms.
