Half pay due to long-term illness?

Half pay due to long-term illness?

Can my employer put me onto half-pay without first warning me it is about to do so?

I was told in arrears that I had gone onto half-pay and thus got a nasty surprise in my payslip.

I'm in the UK and a company I worked for paid at full pay for a period of time, then half pay for a further period, then nothing.

We had a staff handbook explaining this, but if you don't have such info you might want to inquire as to whether they are applying a standard procedure or not.

Your terms and conditions of employment contract should outline the payment scale during long term sickness. Therefore, your employer will assume you have read these and are aware of what the policy is. They technically dont have to warn you in advance if it is outlined in your T & C's.

Yes, its down to the written terms and conditions of your employer regarding sick pay. This would have been written down somewhere and issued to all employees and it is your responsibility to read and understand it, not your employers to remind you.
This is quite common in a lot of companies and the calculations are normally done from absence taken in a rolling year.

If u live in US u have luck. u can sue them and become a millionare
regardless of where u are ur boss cant do this. give the court evidence that u were not warned. but dont warn the boss before u do this. he can make fake evidence. say tht u were not told nor given a legal letter or anything. give the court medical reports of ur illness and say it is not ur fault and u were obliged to take leave

worst to worst if he presents fake letters of informing u. lie detector
he wudnt agree to do that as if he would get screwed. if he is wrong
