Harassed at work.....?

I work the night shift at a hotel....
At 3:30Am I went to the bathroom. (I drink alot of coffee) I was not even in the restroom for 1 minute when my bosses wife just walked on in to check on me.
I am already on camera all the time. She said that she didn't see me so she left her apartment to come see what I was doing in the bathroom ( I was using the toilet!!!!!)
I am angry and embarrassed. I have never done anything that would merit distrust from my employer. But since I have started working the night shift she harasses me all the time.
Can I kill her? How about just shoving her head in the toilet? I talked to my boss just 8 hours ago, about this exact thing. I feel harassed. Additional Details I am locked in at night....so I know she is not just checking to see if I am okay or if I have left. She actually came into the bathroom.
She just called me from her house to check me.

keep good notes on every time she harass you, time and date along with specific incidents. Give your complaints in writing, if it ever gets to the point where you need to quit or you terminated. You can use your notes to help obtain employment benefits. |

Sounds like the wife doesn't trust her husband and feels you are a threat. If this is a chain company, contact your boss's boss and file a complaint. Either he keeps her in line or his boss will get his attention and tell him to get her in line.
Why would she be up at 3:30 in the morning watching you??? She does sound a little 'off center'. |

It's not legal harrassment but it's creepy, just the same.
You can approach your employer and make a complaint about the invasion of privacy in the bathroom, but don't count on him to make a change. Sounds like his wife rules the roost.
I would start looking for other employment -- I wouldn't put up with that type of distrust at all. |

That isn't harassment honey, that is making sure you were ok and didn't walk off the job. |

I don't know all the details, but it sounds like this woman has some issues that need to be addressed, as do you. You do have the right to go to the bathroom in privacy. No dispute there. However, make a little sign that says "Back in 5 minutes" then tell your boss you'll put the sign up when you're going to the bathroom. The next thing to address to him is why his wife is watching the closed circuit cameras. They actually belong to the hotel, and since I'm assuming your boss is a manager, not an owner, his wife shouldn't be touching them. I doubt you have caller ID but even if you did, you'd have to answer when she calls. I'd suggest simply saying, "Thanks for checking, yes, I'm here and fine. Sleep well." Then hang up. As was mentioned earlier, if it's a chain, and he's not the owner, then you have every right to address this issue with his higher ups if he's unable to handle the situation. If he is the owner, then she does have the right to check up on you. She does have the right to watch you on the camera, and worse yet, she owns half the company.... If that's the case, why not talk to her directly and explain about going to the restroom and let her know if she doesn't respect that you'll be forced to take legal action to protect your privacy. |

SHE HAS EVERY RIGHT TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND WHERE YOU ARE, THATS WHY SHE PAYS YOU, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO PRIVACY IN THE WORKPLACE, THAT IS NOT HARASSMRNT |
