i had a good driving job for dept of trans 10 hr but it was temp assignment mine was dwi drugs not alcohol

Of course it does. I don't know many employers that don't check criminal records, and very few are impressed by irresponsible behavior.

Of course it makes it harder to obtain employement.
Try a temp to hire situation -if you go and do good work the employer might not check your record
It shouts to an employer that there are times that you do not use good judgement. If you are wanting a job that requires using a company vehicle the employer's insurance rates will go up because of you.
Try a job where this wont be an issue. Think about your answers to any questions that might be asked of you as a result of same if you are given an interview.
(my grandma died /this was an isolated incident the resulted from same or I was young when this happened and I am actually thankful that it did because as a result I NEVER drink anymore and that might have saved not only my life but someone elses too...) just something to convey you have learned from this mistake.

I got my dui when i was like 16 so its not on my record :D haha
