Help me get this legal assistant job!?

I have to write a resume, but I want it to be soooo good that I get the job. I am a nursing assistant but I really want to change my career really bad. What are some pointers that will land me the job on my resume, and also they asked me am I profiecent in ms office and quickbooks? and I have no idea what that is, but I know I can learn it becuase I am a hard worker and learn fast. If anyone knows what that is, let me know! any pointers whether it's resume or quickbooks, let me know Thanks!!!! :D

If you don't know what Office or QuickBooks are, you are not even close to being proficient in them. This is not the job for you. And, if you lie about it, they will fire you and you are screwed for your next job.

BTW, your spelling and grammar are horrible. You don't need a good resume or knowledge about QuickBooks. You need to get an education before getting a legal assistant job! Email me if you like.

First of all, if you have a job in this market, I'd keep it. I'm a Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary who is currently looking for work and the pickings are slim, to say the least.

Second, if you don't know Quickbooks that's okay because not all firms use Quickbooks, but if you aren't familiar with MS Office then you aren't familiar with how the business world works and legal assistance is not the field for you. Please don't lie about not knowing either of these programs, though. No one likes their time to be wasted. If you don't have MS Office (I'm assuming you don't) you can try downloading a similar program from openoffice.org, if not to write your resume to at least acquaint yourself with the most popular and widely used word processing software in the world. It's basically the same thing as MS Office except it is free. Also, you can run tutorials in it, which you most definitely will need to do.

Third, if you are still looking to break into the legal field, I'd try a position a couple notches below Legal Assistant. Lots of firms have office assistant positions and/or docketing positions which could allow you to move into a better position if you are qualified to do so.

Fourth, I'd pick up a book on grammar and spelling if I were you. Employers won't even return your calls if you send them something that's formatted the way you've formatted your question. Besides that, you should be able to type at least 65 wpm, free of errors.
