Help me my boyfriend was sacked?

Help me my boyfriend was sacked?

i think its unfair dismissal

he worked for a well known high street retailer for a year and a half then part of the store was bought over by another company he didnt like the job and wanted a change so he moved departments in the store and started with another company.

he was 'on probation' and was there for only four weeks then they sacked him 2 weeks before xmas, now we are in trouble, we are struggling financially

i think its unfair dismissal, the thing was there was an error with the tills, and a few occassions there was money down on my boyf till code. he isnt aware of how the hec it happended, he certainly NEVER took any money, he asked them to investigate it but they could prove how it happended only that it was down money.

this happended 3 times each time and investigation was done he was warned, and then the final time they just sacked him my boyf tried to explain that it was a fault/error in the system.

it has happened to other staff but they got kept on cos they have been there years, i dont want to let them get away with this, i used to work as a legal secretary and im sure he can sue them for loss of earnings, emotional stress etc

trouble is we are skint and cant afford legal fees, could we get legal aid? should we pursue this?

i dont want to let them away with it, he was a good employee and they cant prove that how the tills were down.

what steps should he take now? and is it too late it only happended 2 weeks ago?

also how long would this legal process take?

1. he was on probation.
2. HIS till with his sign on was short and he could not explain.
3. he had 3 prior warnings
4. it continued to happen and he was sacked.

I think the company was very fair to give him the benefit on the previous times.
Certainly not unfair dismissal.

Stop trying to defend something which is indefensible.

No, he was on 'Probation' which translates to - if we dont like you then you're gone.

Your boyfriend could get legal aid. But with him being on his probationary period the company can sack him.

You should contact ACAS for advice.

I recently had some trouble with an employer, which thankfully I have now left! I phoned ACAS for advice and the guy I spoke to was brilliant. They give you free impartial advice and tell you how/where to go next if you have a good case.

You have no case unfortunately. It looks like a disciplinary procedure was followed and losing money is always a gross misconduct offence and subject to summary dismissal. If you must thrash this out, go to the C.A.B. and get some free advice first.

does your state have "right to work" approach.
if so, it doesnt matter. they can let him go for any or without a reason.
in this particular case, he is very not likely to get anything out of them, because they didnt do anything. Dismissal is not illigal, they did nt like him, oh well. just look for another job.

Your boyfriend has no case. Have you considered that he may also be a little lax with the truth? Does happen you know, but when you are in a relationship you cannot see the wood for the tree's.
