Help with unfair dismissal?

My husband was fired on Thursday for gross misconduct. The apparent offense was that he sent an email to a number of brokers and forgot to blind copy the recipients - an error, yes, but does it really warrant on the spot sacking? Correct disciplinary procedures were not followed as first thing in the morning he was called into his bosses office, told what he had done and asked to collect his stuff and leave the premises immediately. He was given no warning, no witness in the meeting, and no written documents detailing the offense. He was told he can appeal, but not given any details of how. His boss said that as they are an American company they can do this as they are governed by US law, not UK (which sounds like rubbish to me!?) We are going to see speak to the CAB next week but can anyone advise in the meantime on what our next step is? Do we have grounds for a claim? Do we have to go through the company's appeals procedure before taking it to a tribunal?

Apparently one of his colleagues made the same mistake awhile back but as she was having an affair with his (married) boss she obviously didn't get fired for it!

Sorry that this happened to you-something similar happened to my Husband also-as I have seen it lately there is alot of favoritism going on-go to the labor board-unemployment office and to the attorney generals office of your state-tell your husband to write down everything that has happened and to try to make a copy of the email-if it has been deleted go to the search box on your email page and what you husband did is no reason to let him go-he forgot big deal then send the customers a later email-too many cry babies in this world-good luck and get a lawyer if you can talk to your village if you live in a suburb or city hall if you are in the city-good luck

The firm has to follow the laws of the land... they may have corporate policies in place that reflect the culture of the parent company as long as they are not in violation of the laws of the locality.
