A verbal contract is as binding as the paper it is written on!!

It is always best to have the details in writing.

If you are hiring something out then it would be wise to write down the agreement. In the UK verbal contracts are good in law but it is wise to have a witness to confirm what was said in case of dispute. You can download free copies of formats for simple agreements from MS Word in the MS Office suit

Absolutely, get it in writing and keep a copy. CYA!!! Cover your ****!!

A verbal contract is valid so long as you have an offer, consideration, and performance. You offer to hire for X they accept and hire you the property good enough. But you would be a lot safer both you and the hirer with a written agreement.

In the UK, a verbal contract is binding but it is always better to have it in writing to prove what was agreed. If there is evidence to show that a verbal contract existed, then it should stand up in court. It is not the job of the court to dictate the form of a contract and it does not seek to do so.

what "something" are you hiring? a Killer Klown from Outer Space?

Verbal hiring goes on all the time. So what are you asking, you hired some one and they did not show up and you what to sue them? Or you did not hire someone and they showed up for work and now want to get paid?

Get everything in writing if you may need it in court. But if it's too late already than you can still present the verbal agreement.

In a court of law, verbal is simply your word against the other person and this will not stand up in a court of law, unless perhaps you have a witness who is not friend/realtive

With a verbal, you will need some substantiation, but it is as binding as written considering you can prove it.

Nope, It will not hold in court. You need signed documents. And be very specific and detailed in your contracts. When I was sub-contractor for tile, I always signed the builders contract, and the builder signed my contract.

verbal will nopt hold up

A verbal agreement is never enough. It has to be in written form, then agreed by the lawyers..
