Hourly pay cutt legal?

Cutting your hourly pay is legal. If you quit, you'd only get unemployment comp if the cut was very large. If you decide to quit, line up another job first. |

It's perfectly legal as long as they pay at least minimum wage, unless you have a written employment contract stipulating your pay rate and prohibiting changes during the term of that contract, or you are doing union work under a union contract.
If you quit, you will not be eligible for unemployment. And there are few jobs out there.
At least they did not terminate everyone and replace them with illegal aliens or foreign workers on employment visas. There is a great deal of that going on these days, so if you are laid off and later discover you were replaced with either illegal alien or employment visa holder, file suit against them for discrimination on the basis of national origin (discrimination against US citizens).
That's all the options you have available to you: take it or leave & go elsewhere if you can find something. |

As long as they don't cut your pay below the minimum wage, it's legal. |

call your state deparment of labor and speak to the labor standards office about all your concerns. |

Contact your local Department of Labor -doesn't sound too legal to me. So many employers are using this "economy" as a reason to screw their employees - it's just wrong. |
