personal reasons have made me believe that this is my calling, I am currently a sophomore in college working towards a BS in Criminal Justice.

Exactly as Dr. Deth wrote. You would have to go to the Police Academy and work your way up into the Special Victims unit. Each state has there own requirements; however, you need be a police officer first. |

I agree with the others about becomng a cop first. But if you're already working on a BS in Criminal Justice, why not go for a law degree and become a prosecuter and ask to work on these type cases?
A law degree may be a faster route than pounding a beat. {Does anyone pound a beat any more? ;-) } (It's been almost 30 years since I did and even then, most of the time I had a cruiser)
