How can I get laid off?

I hate my job but I do not want to just up and quit. I would like to collect unemployment. So my question is how can I get THEM to lay me off? Examples of what I could do would be greatly appreatiated.

Unless the company is doing bad financially, you will not get laid off. Even if you are fired, you will still collect unemployment money. The progress of collecting unemployment money MIGHT take longer and you MIGHT have to appeal to the first decision but you will collect unemployment. thats why the companies sometimes gives you the option of quiting so they wont have to pay edd. Whatever it is you do in your job, just do a "mistake" that is critical but can still be considered an honest mistake. One thing that you should definitely NOT do is stop showing up to work, because they will consider that abandonment of job, so in other words its like quiting. Just make a serious mistake that will automatically result in termination. read ur handbook and see what that could be. During the phone interview because after you apply for edd, you will be scheduled an interview, just tell them it was a mistake. Only take advice from people that have dealt with this personally, the other people are only going by what they hear. I heard from a lot of people I wasn't guna collect edd, they were wrong! good luck! |

Anything that you "do" to get laid off actually will probably get you fired, which means it is a "for cause" action and you may be denied unemployment benefits. You would be better off looking for a different job and just quitting when you get the second job. |

I wouldn't recommend that you do that. I could be a bad reference later. Just take time to find another job that you will like. I'm unemployed and it is not something to want. |
