How can i find good lawyer?

I have been assaulted couple of days ago, and am in process of everything but I don't have a lawyer yet, I need to find one before July 20-Th, where can I find a good lawyer? Besides www.lawyers.com and are there ratings for lawyers? (Which one is best and so on?)
There are a lot of them near where I live, but I don't know which one to choose because I can't determine the experience and the knowledge of the lawyer by just looking at their names...

First, I would need to know why you need a lawyer. If it is to sue whoever assaulted you, look for good personal injury lawyer in your area. You could start by checking with your local Bar Association. They often have a lawyer -finding service listed in the Yellow Pages. |

Better ask for early first opinion (because its free :) ) from diffrent lawyers and choose based on their opinion. |
