How could an employee stop being a “victim” ?
|
The “victim” employee was told a few times by her boss that she is the best employee for that position. But in the last 3 months, repeatedly, the boss (a woman) is yelling at the “victim” employee; it looks like every time there is something that is not done correctly, even it is done correctly. The boss has humiliated many times the employee in front of the other persons. The boss is smiling to the other employees, but is always angry with the “victim employee”. When another employee makes a mistake, the boss has a private conversation in her office with that person. Never that kind of conversation happens to the “victim” employee”. How could the employee stop being a “victim”? What might be the reason the boss behaves the way she does?

Has the "victim" talked privately to the boss and asked politely what is going on? |

Boss' sometimes pick someone to pick on.
Or maybe you are unaware that you are not a good employee. Are you in denial and blaming everything on the boss?
I don't know.
You can quit or tell the boss how you feel and see what she says. |

You teach people how to treat you.
By saying nothing and accepting this behavior, the "victim" teaches the boss that this behavior is OK.
To end it, speak up.
Have a meeting with the boss, let her know what is bothering you and ask her to stop. Give her a chance to change her ways. Remind her when she starts up, then call her out on her behavior. If that doesn't work, go to her boss and complain.
This won't be solved by getting another job. You have to put on your big girl panties and take a stand. If you just get a new job, your new boss will eventually treat you badly too. |

The victim can confront her boss and ask her if there is a particular reason why she seems to be treated differently from other employees.
The victim can talk to someone higher up on the management chain about the issue, possibly requesting a transfer to a different department, if there is one.
The victim can start looking for another job and ultimately quit, or at least threaten to quit. |
