How do I get a job at a law firm in between college and law school?

I'm in my fourth year of college and graduating in the Spring. Any tips for finding a job at a law firm for a year or so before going to law school? Should I just call up all the law firms in my area and ask if they need me or is there a helpful website (besides Monster.com) that anyone knows about? If you have personal experience, how did *you* do it? Thanks for any help you can give.

I would say you are on the right track. Don't be expecting a "law clerk" position though -- usually they have specific requirements for that. However there are often positions you can fill such as "runner" "billing assistant" "receptionist" "calendar clerk" etc. |

I would send a letter to each of the firms in your area and then follow up a week later with a call. Hopefully, they like ambition. |

All I can tell you is to send your resume to some of the larger firms (defense firms hire more students). You could also call the human resources managers to see what the process is to be a clerk for the summer. Also, if you know any lawyers, talk to them, they may be able to get you on where they work. |
