Please write a letter to your Ex boss that he had obtained your signature on blank papers under duress !.
This will save you in future !!

Keep a copy of you last evaluation to show a prospective employer. It looks really bad if you just leave with out notice, so you will have to prove yourself next time around.

1, DON'T EVER sign anything with out reading it - it was most likely tax paperwork though.

2. Vacation time is a BENEFIT but if your former employer promised to pay for a vacation and you took one and got no pay then he has defaulted.

3. Your rights as far as walking off the job - depend what state you live in - talk to your local Employment securities Department

FYI usually when you "walk out" you loose by default.

Are you referring to a derogatory reference from this employer if called by a potential new employer?

It is likely you signed something that said you are leaving voluntarily and that you have no complaints and no benefits due to you. Never sign anything in the future without reading it. Better yet, have someone else (lawyer) look it over or take it home and sleep on it.

It's never good to walk away from a job, ever, unless you are in danger. It's always better to find a job when you already have a job.

You will have to put this job on any job application you do in the future. You need to think of a way to present what happened in the most positive way. No employer wants to hire someone who acts hastily or complains about a former employer. They will think you are a complainer who will complain about them, too.

Being right is never an excuse for doing something that can harm you when you look for a job in the future. There are ways to quit that sound as if you are going to work someplace better.

One thing you could have done (not that I'd have thought of this at the moment, either) is to write on the papers you signed that you feel you are owed for your last year's vacation.

When you are interviewed for your next job, be sure to clarify the benefits and see if there is an employee's handbook spelling them out. You can say what your responsibilities were at the job you left and how well you did. You can say you couldn't work there because of a disagreement over company policies.
